Born 1982 in Passau. Lives and works in Berlin.
Markus Hoffmann studied both the natural sciences and art. This transdisciplinary background forms the basis for his current work, in which he consistently and in diverse ways endeavours to unite the two or to take one or the other in a new direction. The content of his work addresses the transformation of the planet in the Anthropocene epoch and global shifts such as climate change. In doing so he is fascinated by the material-inherent approach and by the perception and exploration of reality. As he says: “One might say that I am a coproducer of reality, with the speculative attitude of an archaeologist.”
